Uninstalling the ThreatLocker Agent on Windows XP/Server 2003

Temporarily Disable ThreatLocker on Windows XP/Server 2003

If you are trying to troubleshoot functionality issues with an application to verify that ThreatLocker is not responsible, we recommend that you don't uninstall the ThreatLocker application. Instead, you can temporarily stop the ThreatLocker Service.

ThreatLocker cannot be uninstalled or stopped while Tamper Protection is enabled.  

To temporarily stop the ThreatLocker service: 

  • Disable Tamper Protection (For instructions on how to disable tamper protection, please refer to our article) -- Disabling Tamper Protection 

  • Open Command Prompt as an Administrator. 

  • Type "net stop threatlockerservice" to stop the ThreatLocker Service. 

  • Type "net stop threatlockerdriver" to stop the ThreatLocker Driver. 

  • Press Enter. 

Uninstalling ThreatLocker on Windows XP/Server 2003

To uninstall ThreatLocker on Windows XP/Server 2003, you will need to use our stub uninstaller. 

For a successful uninstall of the ThreatLocker agent on Windows XP/Server 2003: 

  • Disable Tamper Protection (For instructions on how to disable Tamper Protection, please refer to our article) -- Disabling Tamper Protection

    After you have Disabled Tamper Protection, the computer status will show the following message:
     

  • Double-click the stub uninstaller to launch the executable. 

    • You may get a prompt to launch an application as a certain user. Please use a user with administrative privileges to proceed with the uninstall. 

ThreatLocker will now uninstall.
