Tray Settings - Application Control

ThreatLocker now permits users to customize their Application Control Tray settings. These Advanced settings can be configured by using the 'Tray Settings - Application Control'.

Note: This Advanced Setting requires the Windows Agent 10.8.3 or above.

Within the 'Create Settings' sidebar in the 'Advanced Settings' page, select the 'Tray Settings - Application Control' from the 'Setting Type' dropdown menu.

Ensure that you select the correct level this Advanced Setting will apply to and the Order By. Then, you will see a new section titled 'Parameters'.

Application Control Tray Notifications

Here is where you can customize the pop up notification that end users receive when a file is blocked.

Under the 'Application Control Tray Notifications' section, you will have two switches that can be selected:

  • Hide Application Control Tray Notifications - Hides all Application Control Tray Notifications, making it so they do not appear for the user. 
  • Enable Custom Tray Notifications - Selecting this switch opens several other options for customizing tray notifications for Application Control.
    • Notification Text - Allows you to customize the default text displayed in notifications.
    • Hide Request Button - A switch that, when activated, hides the 'Request Access' button from the tray notification. This prohibits users from 

    • "Request Access" Button Text - Allows users to change the text that appears in the 'Request Access' button field.

    • Hide "Don't Show Again" Button - Hides the 'Don't Show Again' button from user view. This button removes the user's ability to receive tray notifications about the requested application.

    • "Don't Show Again" Button Text - Allows you to change the default text that appears in the 'Don't Show Again' button field.

    • Self-approve Notification Text - This text only appears when 'Self-Approval' is enabled through the Default Deny policy. Changing the text here will change the default text that appears for the Self-Approve button.

    • View Available Application - This text appears as a link at the end of the Notification Text. You can change the text that appears in the link, but not the link itself, as this link will lead to the Store page of your organization.

Browser Extension Tray Notifications

Here is where you can customize the pop up notification that end users receive when a browser extension is blocked.

It contains all the same options as Application Control Tray Notifications. See above for descriptions if needed.

 

Application Control Tray Requests

Here is where you can customize the Application Request window.

Under the Application Control Tray Requests header, you will see a toggle to "Enable Custom Tray Requests".  

 Toggle this on to reveal the following customization options:

    • Notification Text - Allows you to customize the default text displayed in notification.

    • Software Access Text -  Allows you to customize the default text displayed above the software access icons on the request window.

    • Countries of Developers Text -   Allows you to customize the default text displayed above the country flag icons on the request window.

    • "View Available Application" Text -  Allows you to customize the default text displayed to link to the Application Store you have configured in the ThreatLocker portal.
  •  
    • Make Including a Message Mandatory - Toggle on to enforce that users must enter a reason before they can submit a request.
    • Optional Message Text - Allows you to customize the shadow text that is displayed in the message box. 

    • Make Including an Email Address Mandatory -  Toggle on to enforce that users must enter an email address before they can submit a request.
    • Optional Email Address For Notifications Text -  Allows you to customize the shadow text that is displayed in the email address input box.
  •  
    • Attach A File With Request  - Toggle on to have the checkbox to attach a copy of the file with the request selected by default.
  •  
    • Attach a File Text -  Allows you to customize the text displayed above the Attach a copy of the file checkbox.

    • Hide Send Request Button -  Toggle on to hide the button to send a request, preventing users from submitting requests while still informing them about the block.
    • "Send Request" Button Text -  Allows you to customize the label on the Send Request button.
  •  
    • Hide "Log in as Administrator" Button - Toggle on to hide the Log in as Adminstrator button.
    • "Log in as Administrator" Button Text -  Allows you to customize the label on the Log in as Administrator button.
  •  
    • Cancel Button  Text - Allows you to customize the label on the Cancel button.

Browser Extension Tray Requests

Here is where you can customize the browser extension request window.

Toggle on the Enable Custom Tray Requests toggle to reveal all of the customization options. This section contains all the same options as Application Control Tray Requests. See above for descriptions if needed.
