Some organizations may find that their child organizations require some of the same software, network control policies, or storage control policies. Instead of requiring users to create the same policies for other organizations, ThreatLocker permits users to copy policies from Application Control, Network Control, and Storage Control. The following article will provide you with the information you need to be able to copy policies from one organization, group, or computer to another.
How to Copy an Application Control Policy
To copy a policy within the Application Control module, select the ‘Modules’ dropdown using the left-hand menu. Select ‘Application Control’ from the list.
Navigate to the ‘Policies’ tab using the top right corner of the screen.
Within the ‘Policies’ page, select the hamburger menu in the top left corner of the screen. The menu will be to the right of the ‘+ New Tag’ button. Select ‘Copy Existing Policies’ from the ‘Policy Management’ window.
Once this button is selected, a popup window will appear titled ’Policy Management‘. This window will display all policies corresponding with the group or computer matching the ’Applies To’ section when you opened the ’Copy Policies’ page.
Below is a screenshot showing which dropdown menu provides the Source and Target Organizations:
-
Source Organization – Where you are taking the policy from.
-
Target Organization – Where the policy will be copied to.
From within this page, navigate to the top of the window. A dropdown menu labeled ‘Select target Organizations or Groups to insert selected policies’ will be shown. Select this to display all of your organizations.
Select the arrows to the left of the organization names to show the groups and computers within each organization.
From here, you can select the organization, group, or computer you wish to copy the policy to by selecting the name. You can select multiple at once.
Once you have selected who you will be applying it to, navigate to the dropdown menus above the list of policies.
Here, you can change what policies are displayed on this page. Using the ‘Organization’ dropdown, you can select other organizations to find policies from.
Using the ’Group’ dropdown, you can select a different group or computer to populate results from.
Use the ‘Match Filter’ dropdown to toggle between the following options:
-
No Match Filter
-
Policies with No Last Match
-
Policy with a Last Match
-
Not Matched in Over 6 Weeks
Lastly, you can use the search bar to search for a specific policy name.
Once you have found the policy or policies you wish to copy, select the checkbox to the left of the policy name(s). Select the ‘+ Copy (number selected) Policy’ button to copy to your selected groups or computers.
You can also select the checkbox to the left of ‘Active’ to automatically select all policies on the page.
Now, when navigating to the policies page within the selected recipients, you will see that the copied policy or policies will now be displayed.
You can also see this when navigating to the Applications page. Navigating to ‘Notepad++’ will show that there are two policies for it matching into the ‘Copy Policies Test’ policy.
