The Domain Categorization Lookup Tool allows you to identify the ThreatLocker-maintained Built-In category associated with a domain or URL. When entering one of your choice, this tool will provide the category that your input belongs to.
To locate this tool, hover over the Analytics module on the left side of your ThreatLocker portal. Next, locate the Dashboards option and choose Web from the list of selections.

You will now be brought to the Web Control Dashboard. From here, scroll to the bottom of the page to find the Domain Categorization Lookup tool.
Using the Domain Categorization Lookup Tool
To use this tool, in the field labeled Enter Domain or URL, enter the information you are interested in looking up. Once done, select Lookup.

After selecting, the results will display in the field below. Each result will show the domain name and a corresponding Built-In category if one is available. In the following example, ThreatLocker has categorized the facebook.com domain in the Social Media (Built-In) category.

Inserting a domain or URL that has not been categorized will leave the category field blank and produce a message that states "No categorization found for this domain." beneath the field.

If you believe the returning category to be wrong, you can request that a Cyber Hero review the domain to make sure it is appropriately categorized. To do this, select the Request Cyber Hero Review button. Selecting this button will create a ticket with your entered domain or URL, which will then be reviewed by our Cyber Hero Team.

About the Tool
The Domain Categorization Lookup Tool is intended to work like Web Control. Our web control engine operates by evaluating the domain or hostname. Consequently, our classification system applies security policies at that level rather than to individual sub-directories.
If you put a full URL like https://myexample.com/thisTest/doesNotWork into the domain field, it will parse it down, returning myexample.com and comparing it to our database. You can see an example of this in the image below:
We welcome your input on specific directory-based threats. After you submit a ticket, please include any known malicious paths or directories in the comments section of the ticket. Our research team reviews these comments during our initial investigation, and any input is instrumental in our assessment process.
