Deleting a Storage Device
The Devices tab within Storage Control allows you to manage the storage devices that have been discovered in your organization. If a storage device is no longer needed, you can permanently remove it from the device list. However, storage devices that are currently referenced by an active Storage Policy cannot be deleted until they are removed from the policy or the policy is no longer active.
Delete a Storage Device
- Navigate to Storage Control.

- In the upper-right corner of the page, select the Devices tab.

- Locate the storage device you want to delete and select the checkbox next to it.
- Select Delete Device.

- When prompted with "Are you sure you want to permanently delete this device?", select Yes to confirm the deletion.

Note: If the storage device is currently assigned to an active Storage Policy, the deletion will be blocked. A message will appear indicating that the device cannot be deleted while it is associated with an active policy. Remove the device from the active policy or deactivate the policy before attempting to delete the device again.
Remove a Storage Device from a Storage Policy
If a storage device is assigned to an active Storage Policy, it must be removed from the policy before it can be deleted.
- Navigate to Storage Control and select the Devices tab.
- Select the storage device you want to remove from the policy. This opens the Edit Storage Device side panel.
- In the Policy Options section, locate the Add to Existing Storage Policy dropdown.
- Clear (unselect) the Storage Policy currently assigned to the device.
- Select Save to apply your changes.

- After the device has been removed from the policy, return to the Devices list and delete the storage device.
Note: If the storage device being removed is the last device assigned to a Storage Policy, that policy will automatically be converted into an All Storage Devices policy.
